7 Methods to Monetize Your Instagram
In this post, we are going to see seven ways to make money on Instagram, step by step. If you want to earn money from your Instagram account, first you need to switch from a private account to a public account.
To find out whether your account has become public or not, your professional dashboard will start showing up here. If it shows up like this, it means your account has become public. That is, if you have an old account, and you are not regular on that account, you post content whenever you feel like it, and then disappear. If you have such an irregular old account, you might have doubts about whether to continue with it or start a new account for creating an Instagram account.
You should create a new account. If you ask why, Instagram itself provides more support to those who create new accounts and boosts their videos more. Therefore, create a new account. When you create a new account, choose a category right away. For example, if your content is about technology, first choose a category that focuses only on technology.
Create an account by choosing a category like this. After creating it, start posting regularly. After starting like this, we can look at how to earn money through these seven methods. Make sure you set up this basic setup correctly. Let’s say you create a public account and choose a category. Now there are seven ways you can earn money. If you follow any one of these seven ways, you will start earning money.
1. Branding or Sponsorship
The first method is called branding or sponsorship. For example, let’s say you have 1 million subscribers; brands will come looking for you. When you first started, you chose a category and were posting videos, right? When you continue posting videos in that chosen category, those kinds of brands will approach you.
For example, let’s say you post travel or vehicle-related videos, or let’s say you post bike-related videos, about bikes and cars. Then car and bike brands will approach you. If you have 1 million subscribers, that is, 1 million followers, and you get a lot of views, the brand itself will come to you and say, “I have a product; please tell your audience about it,” and they will give you a certain amount of money.
You will have to review that product for your audience and promote it to them. This is called sponsorship and branding promotion. This method is only available if you have a large number of followers; almost all Instagram influencers with many followers are using this method. This is the first method. However, you need to have a large audience for this to work, only then will you earn a lot of money.
2.Affiliate Marketing
Now, there’s a second method called affiliate marketing. For this, you don’t necessarily need a large audience. You can sell products to even a small audience. If you ask how, there’s Amazon, Flipkart, and the Meesho app. All these apps have many products. In all three, you will need to create an affiliate account. That is, an Amazon Associate account, or an affiliate account on Flipkart and Meesho. After creating this affiliate account, you can download the product images from there and post them, or you can showcase the products yourself.
For example, if you post a review of a product to your audience, you can provide the link to the item in your bio. You can promote this affiliate marketing by saying, “If you want the product I showed in this video, it’s in the bio; click and buy it.” You won’t have to spend a single penny from your pocket; you’ll be selling someone else’s product and you’ll get a commission.
The commission varies from 5%, 10%, and even up to 50%. The commission details are clearly given on platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and the Meesho app that I mentioned. We’ll look at everything one by one. This is a very easy method of affiliate marketing, but you need to choose a specific niche. For example, you can choose a niche like cookers, mixers, or maybe t-shirts, pants, or glasses – something related to fashion or beauty. By focusing on that niche and creating and uploading videos about your affiliate products, you’ll get many views and followers. Then, by showing them your link and encouraging them to buy, you’ll earn a commission.
3.Online Selling
There’s a third method, which is a very easy one: online selling. For example, let’s say you have a product, or you own a shop. Let’s say you have a clothing store; you’re currently selling offline. Offline, you can only sell to the people who come to your store. But since this is spread globally and across India, it will be an easy way for you to earn money online.
Let’s say you have a clothing store, or a carpentry business, or any other product. You can showcase these products. Some people, for example, showcase their craft work, tailoring work, or embroidery work. They show their work and tell people, “If you want something like this, place an order with me,” and provide their contact details. This way, you can directly connect with customers and sell to them, or sell online.
If your product is very engaging, many people will see it and want something similar, and you can sell your product to them. Even if you don’t have your own products, you can find a wholesale shop nearby and sell products from there. Just like you sell on Amazon, Flipkart, and Meesho, you can create an account on Instagram, gather your audience, and sell your own products. This is also a method of online selling.
4.Bonus
The fourth amazing thing is that, just like how you earn money on YouTube and Facebook based on views, there was an option here called Bonus. It was available in India, but it’s been temporarily removed. There’s a high chance of it returning. There are criteria for this; you need to have a certain number of followers, a certain amount of watch time, and a certain number of views.
After you complete these criteria, Instagram itself will give you a bonus. This is a fantastic option, and there’s a high chance it will return soon; rumors are spreading that it’s coming back.
So, if you try from now on to increase your followers and views as much as possible, there’s a high chance you’ll also receive the bonus when it returns. However, as of this date (August 8th), the bonus option is not available. But it’s good to be prepared before it returns.
5.Instagram Shopping
The fifth is Instagram Shopping. That is, there’s an option called Shopping on Instagram. When you upload reels, you’ll see an option below called “Add Product.” This is not available to everyone; there are criteria for this as well, such as needing a certain number of followers and views.
After you complete these criteria, they will check if the product is your own. They will check if your account is public and if you have a large audience. After checking this, Instagram Shopping will be enabled for you. Then you can sell your products through your bio or by using the ‘Add Product’ option.
6.Selling Services
If many people are following our channel, your skills will have already started developing; you’ll be getting better at video editing, thumbnail creation, etc. Many more such things are coming. If you ask why I’m saying this, the next thing we’re going to see is “Sell Your Services.
” For example, let’s say you are a graphic designer, or you know how to edit reels well, or you know how to create good thumbnails. In such cases, open a fantastic Instagram profile and upload all your work there. Create a neat and clean page with images, reels, and videos that everyone will like at first glance. Keep uploading your work like this.
Some people will seek you out and ask you for work, or you can contact big or small creators and offer to edit reels or photos/graphics for them. If they are impressed after seeing your profile, they will definitely give you work. Through this, you can charge a certain amount for a particular work.
This is currently one of the most trending jobs. Many people, especially big influencers, don’t have the time to create content, edit it, and upload it, as they are very busy. When you contact them offering to create thumbnails, reels, and shorts for them, and if they like your work, you will definitely get the job 100%.
7.Managing Influencers
The seventh thing we’re going to look at is managing influencers. For example, let’s say someone has a product. You have to talk to that person, take the product from them, and then sell it to influencers. For instance, let’s say there’s a product, a pen, for example, a Reynolds pen. You have to go and talk to the Reynolds pen company. Talking to them means contacting them via email or through their contact information.
You have to tell them that you will sell their product for them. Then, you need to negotiate a commission for yourself for selling the product. This commission could be 50%, 30%, or 20%; you need to fix the commission. After agreeing on the commission, you take the pen and approach influencers on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. You negotiate with them, offering a certain amount of money to review the pen.
For example, if you negotiated a price of 100 rupees with the company and give 50 rupees to the influencer to promote the pen, you made a profit of 50 rupees. You have to buy the product from one side and then talk to the influencer on the other side to promote it. This requires good communication skills and excellent knowledge, but it’s a highly profitable business. For example, let’s say many people are getting sponsors; these sponsors don’t directly come from the companies themselves. It’s mediators like these who negotiate with them, then negotiate with us, and keep a commission for themselves in between.
